The 2021 tax season is at an end for many Americans, because April 18th marked the last day to file a 2021 tax return and pay any taxes due. April 18th also marked the due date for the first installment of quarterly prepayments for businesses. However, there are still key tax deadlines quickly approaching this summer for businesses, non-profit organizations, and Americans who filed for an extension. ORT Consulting can assist your business or household in navigating the confusing waters of the tax world. We provide bookkeeping and tax preparation services for small and large businesses.
Upcoming Tax Deadlines
Most businesses and households filed their 2021 taxes on or before the April 18th deadline, unless you applied for an extension by this date. The April 18th deadline applied to Federal tax returns. Most states follow the federal deadline for state taxes. Some states, such as Virginia, allow residents until May 1st to file their state taxes. Since each state has different guidelines, contact ORT Consulting for information on the exact state tax deadline for your area.
These are the additional important tax dates to mark on your calendar for 2022:
- May 15th
Non-profit organizations must submit a Form 990 by this date for review by the IRS to evaluate ongoing tax-exempt status. Contact ORT Consulting if you are a new or existing non-profit organization that needs assistance filing a Form 990.
- June 15th
Businesses must pay their second installment of quarterly prepayments on this date. Any American taxpayers living outside of the United States also have until June 15th to file their 2021 tax returns.
- September 15th
Third quarterly prepayments must be made by this date.
- October 1st
October has several key deadlines. October 1st marks the deadline for contributing to a Simple IRA as a small business owner for the 2021 tax year.
- October 17th
If you filed for an extension by April 18th, October 17th is the final date to file your 2021 tax return.
